Celebrating the Berlin Reunion

October 9th, 2009 by Zain Iqbal

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall – the infamous physical barrier that was a symbol of the division between the East and West in the late 20th century. One of our contributors, Victoria Nguyen found this amazing series of images on Boston.com’s “The Big Picture” blog that highlight one of the celebrations.

This particular performance features two gigantic marionettes, one a deep sea diver called “The Big Giant” who is arriving home after a long and arduous journey and is reunited with his niece, “The Little Giantess.” Their story represents the collapse of the wall and the reunification of East and West Germany and was showcased in the streets of Berlin.
